PSY303: Research Methods in Psychology

This course focused on giving students practical experience designing, conducting, analyzing and communicating original research about human behavior. Mastery of research writing culminated in two scientific papers: one correlational paper and one “experimental” paper. The data analyzed in these papers are a subset of data collected and reported by Lui et al. (2020).

— Quasi-Experimental Paper —

Assignment: Write an experimental paper that investigates a research question using a factorial research design.

Variables: Agreeableness, belief in free will and personal belief in a just world

Research question: What is the effect of agreeableness and belief in free will on personal belief in a just world?

— Correlational Paper —

Assignment: Write a correlational paper that investigates the relationship between two continuous variables.

Variables: Agreeableness and personal belief in a just world.
